DCI Data Centers launches $70 million high-security data centre today in South Australia

Celebrating the launch of DCI's ADL02

DCI Data Centers (DCI) has officially launched its second data centre in South Australia today.  The A$70 million secure facility is the first of its kind and ready to support the growing IT infrastructure needs for the state.

Named Adelaide 02 (ADL02), the 4 MW site is a purpose-built TIER-Ready III, secure cloud edge data centre that can accommodate large IT capacity and programs of work with the ability to address higher security requirements should they be needed.

DCI President and Chief Development Officer Shane Ross said he was proud to launch ADL02 following significant investment by DCI in the state.

“The opening of ADL02 underscores our commitment to enhancing the reliability and security of South Australia’s digital infrastructure.

“This state-of-the-art facility will support the state’s economic growth and technological advancement through the provision of secure data housing for key industry players in South Australia,” he said.

ADL02 is strategically located at Kidman Park next to DCI’s first centre, Adelaide 01 (ADL01).

The new data centre increases the campus’ capacity by 4 MW, taking it up to 5.4 MW total IT Load, with Zone 3 physical security and above.  The facility also sets industry-leading benchmarks for water and energy efficiency, including a NABERS 5 Star Target Design Review Rating.

Other features include: close proximity to the city, while benefiting from being on a separate power and telecommunications network to the CBD; utility supply from independent, diverse 11 kV high voltage direct feeds, which provides continuity of service if there is an interruption to the power supply; 24/7 onsite, dedicated security-cleared personnel; and the availability of 100 per cent renewable power to optimise energy efficiency. The centre has a flexible design to accommodate future technologies such as liquid cooling.

The Hon Stephen Mullighan, who launched the site today, congratulated DCI for its significant investment into South Australia to support retaining and attracting critical ICT loads in the state.

“This is a world-class facility and allows customers to keep their data in the state, which in turn supports a thriving digital infrastructure ecosystem right here at home,” he said.

The site can accommodate large IT needs through the ability to adjust and upgrade if clients have higher security requirements.  It is available for immediate tenant occupancy.  ENDS.
